Professor Gil Troy is the author of Why I Am a Zionist: Israel, Jewish Identity and the Challenges of Today. The book has been hailed as a "must read," and the most persuasive presentation of the Zionist case "in decades." It is has just been released in a 3rd expanded and updated edition, having sold over 15,000 copies.
An American historian by profession, Professor Troy has written books about Hillary Rodham Clinton, Ronald Reagan and the 1980s, Presidential Couples, and Presidential Campaigning. His next book “Leading from the Center: Why Moderates Make the Best Presidents,” will be released this spring.
Troy is a native of Queens, New York. He received his bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from Harvard University and has been at McGill since 1990, where he is now a Full Professor. Maclean's magazine has repeatedly identified him as one of McGill's "Popular Profs" and the History News Network recently identified him as one its 12 “Top Young Historians.” A regular columnist for the Canadian Jewish News, the New York Jewish Week, and B’nai Brith Magazine, Troy has also commented on American politics and the presidency on television, radio, and in various publications, with articles published in The Wall Street Journal, The Montreal Gazette, The New York Times, The New York Post, The Washington Post, The National Post, The Jerusalem Post, The Jerusalem Report, The Wilson Quarterly, and USA Weekend. He is currently in Jerusalem with his wife and four young children.
